"A photography journey to perceive the world of lights and let its beauty embraced as timeless memory." ~ Willy Wangsa

I had a great time on Photo Studio Group (PSG) 1 year anniversary party and met with fellows Ann Arbor Shutterbugs. It’s nice to see the studio grows and how they are helping local photographers to grow as well. If you’re photographers and looking for studio to shoot, I would recommend you to visit their website or stop by and have a chat or even studio tour with these friendly people: Ben, Jen, Chris and Joshua.  Congratulation PSG!

Jessica and Oke Wedding (Album)

I met Jessica and Oke couple years ago at the Ann Arbor’s recreation center, playing volleyball on the weekend. I am excited watching their love grows miles away to DC. It’s true that love will fly you to wonderful place! Congrats Jessica and Oke!

Lillian Senior

On August, I was asked to take a senior photo shoot for the first time. Since I love portrait photography, I was more than happy to accept it. We did 2 days session with urban setting on day 1 and city setting on day 2. It’s very nice working with her. She has very nice character and also a photogenic. Thanks Lillian and good luck for your school!

Professional profiles

I was asked by one of my friend to take shoot for LinkedIn profile pictures. I do not own a studio and think how I could achieve the studio look with my 2 flashes. I nailed it.

Ambyr and Chi Wedding Teaser
I went for wedding shoot last week at The Whitney, Detroit. It’s beautiful place especially for wedding. The bride was asking me for a teaser on following day. So here you go :)
Note: Please don’t crop the picture as it might alter the story. Thanks!

Last week, I rented Olympus 35-100mm f2.0 (75-200mm equiv.) for 5 days from LensRental.com. I was hoping this rental would answer my previous question if I should ditch Olympus and also to help me with the wedding shoot last Saturday.
After couple days of trying it, in term of quality, my eyes couldn’t  tell the difference compared to my 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 (100-400mm equiv.). There is significant difference in quality if compared with the standard glasses.  What makes it nice is the fixed aperture and the focal range. This lens doesn’t have SWD so the focus is kind of slow compare to 50-200mm. So the question is do I need this lens? It will be nice to have but it will be depends on the needs as long my current lenses don’t prevent me from getting what I would like to capture.
In conclusion, the person behind the camera matters. The lenses (as long high grade or above) and the brands (Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, etc) are just the tools to work with. Don’t believe it? Check the results from last month bootcamp. I’m pretty happy with my Olympus E-30 as long I do not pixel peeping on high ISO. It’s more important for me to keep practice, improve skills and have better understanding of exposure. Hope this helps those out there who are confused with the options out there.
Picture taken with E-30 (manual mode), 50mm (100mm equiv.) macro lens, FL-36 with 1/128 manual power on cactus V4 (place on right), FL-50R with 1/128 manual power on cactus V4 (place on left), ISO 100, f5.0, 1/125s.
